Adoption Process

After selecting an animal from the shelter, you then have to complete an Application Form from which a home visit will be arranged. This is to see if you are "doggy-proof" - in other words how high is your fence? Can the dog get out? Be shown where your new pet will be sleeping, your swimming pool - will it be dangerous for the dog? (should have proper covering or fencing).

Once your home has been approved, you are free to come in and sign the "Adoption Agreement" and make payment. You will be given proof of vaccination, deworming and sterilization (if over 6 months), or arrangements will be made for puppies and kittens to visit our vet when turning 6 months old. Part of the agreement is that should the animal not fit into your lifestyle DARG will happily take the pet back into the shelter for re-adoption. Refunds are only available within 7 days of adoption.

Our Adoption Fees are

Dogs - R350.00 
Cats - R250.00
A small donation for a rabbit or guinea pig

These adoption fees include its sterilization, vaccination, deworming and a copper identity disc!
