The “cats’9lives” organisation is dedicated to caring for stray, unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens until such time that they are able to find permanent loving homes. This organisation has no source of income and does not benefit financially from the adoption fee. Care is given by volunteers; therefore we are appealing for sponsorship or donations for food, litter and veterinary fees.

ADULT CATS

We have very limited space for adult cats.  When an adult cat is rehomed the adoption fee ensures that the cat is inoculated, dewormed and sterilized. While the cats are at one of our volunteer’s homes it is fed, given lots of love and the necessary veterinary care when needed. From time to time we need foster homes for adult cats until they are adopted. If you are willing to assist with fostering please don’t hesitate to contact us. All help is appreciated.

KITTENS

Most kittens come to us because the mother has disappeared or they have been dumped and left to fend for themselves. If we have the space we will accept kittens born in homes but we insist that sterilisation of the mother is carried out without delay. Where possible we try to leave the kittens with their mothers until they are 8 weeks old. If they are too small to feed themselves, our willing volunteers bottle or syringe feed them until they can eat solids. At this stage they come to our shelter to await adoption, which takes place from 7-8 weeks onwards. Due to the space restriction we have curtailed our numbers to about 20 kittens. The adoption fee includes 2 vaccinations, deworming, microchip and sterilisation at 5-6 months by one of our designated veterinarians.

Of great importance to our organisation is the emphasis of STERILISATION to keep the numbers of unwanted kittens to the absolute minimum.  “Too many cats but not enough laps”
