Wolfshaven is a registered non profit organisation founded in 2000. We are PRO LIFE - dogs that are not adopted stay on at the sanctuary where they become part of the family.

We are dedicated to:
* the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of dogs
* promoting sterilisation, vaccination and parasite control
* promoting responsible ownership
* the placing of dogs in approved homes, only after screening and property checks have been successful

Adoption Procedure

Prospective new owners have to complete a detailed application form, which provides us with the information on which our first screening takes place.

We take all circumstances into account: fencing of the property, shelter provided for the dogs, family members and other animals on the property.

Our next step is to do a thorough property inspection to ensure that the environment is safe for the dogs to be adopted, and to have a personal interview with the new owners.

If the application is successful, we put the prospective owners and the previous owners/foster home in touch with each other to arrange a meeting, or invite the prospective owners to the sanctuary to meet the dogs in our personal care.

We do not home dogs to prospective homes where there are unsterilised dogs.

All dogs go to their new homes after a veterinary health check, and all are sterilised, vaccinated and dewormed before homing. In most instances we have the dogs microchipped as well.

People who adopt puppies are contractually bound to have the pups sterilised at the age of 6 months, and to follow up on vaccinations.

We reserve the right to remove dogs at any time if they are neglected or abused.

The adoption contract clearly states that dogs should be returned to Wolfshaven should the owners' circumstances change, they may not be sold or given away to others.

Adoption fees vary but the norm is R450.00.
